How It Works

Private Training: Personalized Sessions for You and Your Dog

Our Private Training program is perfect for dog owners looking for one-on-one instruction tailored to their unique needs. These sessions are designed to help you build a stronger bond with your dog, boost your confidence as a handler, and focus on the specific challenges or goals you want to achieve.

What’s Included:
  • 4 Private Training Sessions: $800, sold as a package (Buy 4 get 1 free promo until our books fill up!)

  • Each Session: 1 Hour of Individual Instruction with you, your dog, and a professional trainer working together one-on-one.

  • Customized Training Locations: Choose the setting that best suits your needs—your home, a park, a store, food carts, or even a hiking trail.

  • Positive and Encouraging Methods: Learn how to reinforce good behaviors with confidence and consistency.

  • Homework Between Sessions: Continue the progress at home to maximize results.

Is Private Training Right for You?
  • Great for addressing mild reactivity or improving obedience and manners.

  • Not recommended for serious aggression cases (for these, consider our Board and Train program).

  • Ideal for owners who want to actively participate in their dog’s training journey.

Example Communication with Pet Parent:

Note: The dog's name is changed to "Rover" for privacy.

Me: Hey! Thanks again for coming today. It was great working with you and Rover! I’m glad we could meet up at Old Mill.

Rover's Fam: Thank you! It was so helpful. Rover really seemed to enjoy it too!

Me: I’m so glad to hear that! Just a quick follow-up: be sure to work on the skills we practiced—aim for about 2 hours a day. This includes "place" with distractions, loose-leash walking, and engagement in heel position.

Rover's Fam: Got it! We’ll work on those for sure.

Me: Awesome! Depending on how Rover’s doing, we can either add in new behaviors next time or keep practicing these. I’ll see you next week at the same time and place unless something comes up in your practice this week and you want to switch it up.

Rover's Fam: Sounds good! Same time next week!

Me: Perfect! Looking forward to it! 😊

Example Itinerary:

Locations and Times:

  • 10:00 AM - Working with Rover on engagement: We started on the lawn by the over flow parking at the Old Mill, working on engagement with Rover. This helps him focus and connect

  • 10:10 AM - Loose-leash walking: We practiced staying in the heel position on the lawn, reinforcing loose-leash walking while maintaining focus.

  • 10:20 AM - "Place" and "Down": We worked on Rover holding the "place" and "down" positions, even with distractions like passing cyclists and other dogs nearby. This was great for building his self-control.

  • 10:30 AM - Engagement and walking on the bike path: We continued reinforcing Rover's focus while walking along the bike path, making sure he stayed engaged with you and kept a loose leash.

  • 10:40 AM - "Place" at various spots along the path, gradually increasing distractions to help him settle in different environments.

  • 10:50 AM - Additional engagement work near the dog park: Rover did great with maintaining focus and good leash manners despite the distractions from the dog park.

  • 10:55 AM - Water break & Debrief: short break to keep Rover comfortable and hydrated while we debrief from training

  • 11:00 AM - All finished for today!
